恐同言论触发两队大战 15名大学生遭禁赛

  在上个周末,St. Francis Xavier University与Acadia University的冰球比赛中,在第三节出现了大规模群体斗殴事件。斗殴长达数分钟,近日,大西洋大学体育联盟针对两所学校的涉事球员开出罚单,15名球员与两名教练遭到禁赛。

  在群殴事件发生后,主要涉事球员,来自St. Francis Xavier University的Sam Studnicka与校队教练Brad Peddle发表了声明,还原了当时现场的情况。

  根据Studnicka的声明,在球场上,对方球员一直在辱骂自己。他将情况告知了教练。而教练将情况告知了当值裁判,并告知了对方的教练。然而在几个回合后,这名球员与Studnicka居然在争球点一同争球。

    


  这显然点燃了双方的怒火,群殴事件一触即发。

  在声明中,Studnicka并没有指出对方球员的名字,只是表达了对队友为自己出头的感谢。在他三年的冰球生涯中,他多次遇到这样的侮辱性言论。

  从现场观众上传的视频来看,群殴让现场乱作一团,不仅球员们在相互拳击,双方的教练也发生了口角。而现场还有看热闹的观众,不断在一旁煽风点火。

  St. Francis Xavier University的球队教练Brad Peddle表示,这起斗殴完全可以避免。Peddle在大学级别的球队执教了14年。他并不认同打架的行为,但他认为自己的球员们没有做错任何事。

  “他们只是在维护自己的队友。这对于学生的诚信与性格培养十分重要。这比赢得比赛也更加重要。”

    


  Peddle指出,对方的辱骂与言论不应该出现在冰球场上。这种辱骂重复出现,是造成斗殴的根本原因。

  在斗殴事件发生后,AUS方面展开了相关调查。但是调查结果并不明朗。涉事双方对打架事件给出了完全不同的解释。St. Francis Xavier方面表示,当时Acadia的球员针对Studnicka的性取向以及他曾经遭到性侵的家人进行辱骂。目前,联盟方面还没有对这一指控做出最终的定论。

  Darren Burns (Head Coach): Game misconduct (1 game) + first player leaving bench (1 game) = 2 games total

  St. FX X-Men

  Regan Spears: Instigating a fight (1 game) + fighting (1 game) = 2 games total

  Sam Studnicka: Subsequent fight — 2 games

  William Thompson: Subsequent fight — 2 games

  Nathan Pancel: Leaving the bench during a fight — 2 games

  Mark Tremaine: Leaving the bench during a fight — 2 games

  William Bower: Leaving the bench during a fight — 2 games
