  About this Job:

  Twitter is creating a global center of excellence in Vancouver for computer science graduates to work on some of the most interesting technical challenges in the industry today. These range from bite-sized feature development projects to large operational undertakings, such as building the systems that enable us to deliver fast, scalable and reliable services to users. We are looking to recruit a handful of new graduates with boundless potential so that we can build a world-competitive software engineering centre around them. Not only will you make a visible and immediate impact on our dynamic ecosystem, you will fit right in alongside some of the brightest minds in the industry. You should have previous experience with web infrastructure, distributed systems, or component-oriented software engineering.

  Responsibilities:

  Code using primarily Scala, as well as Java and C++ for the backend

  Code primarily in Objective-C, Java, Scala, HTML/CSS, and Javascript for the front end

  Work closely with, and incorporate feedback from, engineers from other teams at Twitter, product management, and interaction designers

  Work on the scalability, resilience, and efficiency of backend components

  Build storage systems, libraries, and frameworks that let Twitter grow

  Work in a team-oriented environment

  Pro-actively look for ways to make Twitter better

  Minimum Requirements:

  Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from a global Top 100 university (THES QS ranking or similar)

  Boundless potential as a software engineer, demonstrated by breathtaking academic achievement that puts you among the handful at the top of Canada’s 2012 crop of computer science graduates. This potential should be apparent in concrete academic achievements that can be objectively evaluated against those of your peers, including at least two of the following:

  Recipient of academic scholarships, grants, or awards

  Article(s) published in your name in a peer-reviewed academic journal

  Invitations to speak or present at technical conferences

  Internship experience at major web-based consumer internet company

  Competitive experience in top coding competitions or math/science Olympiads

  Recognized from computer science organizations for programming work

  Demonstrated contributions to corporate sponsored hack-a-thons

  Demonstrated open-source contribution

  Previous success in a performance-critical environment
